GLOBAL FESTIVAL OF JOURNALISM
The opening ceremony of Global Festival of Journalism, a three day event commenced from 12 Feb and ending on 14 Feb at Noida situated Marwah Studios, was a gala evening, attended by many famous and eminent personalities of the media industry. The event thrives to give a platform to all the young and talented people who want to make their career in the field of journalism.
The program was graced by the presence of the head of Newspaper Association of India Mr. Vipin Gaur, the head of ITV Ajay Shukla, senior Journalist Rashid Hashmi, Politics Editor of News India Sanjay Singh and many others.
All the senior journalists shared their thoughts on the contemporary situation of Indian media. ITV Head Ajay Shukla said, “today the competition has become so severe that all the media houses are in a race to show the news as soon as possible, consequently, compromising on the authenticity of the news which increases negativity in the community . ” Senior Journalist Rashid Hashmi elaborated on the complementary role of credibility and authenticity in journalism. He said that to be a journalist one needs to be courageous, he needs to be credible enough so that he can understand the subjectivity of the news events. Sanjay Singh who has given his life to the Journalism mentioned the three things that needs to be present in a journalist. He said that enthusiasm, courage and determination are the three most important qualities that define a journalist. Focusing on the integrity of the journalists, he said that the most challenging part in this field is to maintain your morality while working.
The president of ICMEI Sandeep Marwah said, “determination is the most important quality. The ability to break down complex things in simple terms and your behavior helps you in achieving your dreams. To understand the reality, read as much as you can, as knowledge is imperative in this field.”
